Unconventional
Unconventional. That’s the word Alan used when asked to pick a word that described our relationship for my 19th birthday present from a friend. That was in 2014 and we have only become increasingly unconventional since then. For many people an alternative word might be “weird”, and that’s totally fine with us!
Hello there! We're Cloudland Photo, aka Heather and Alan, and we're psyched you stopped by to see us! Take your time, look around, and let us know if you want to chat about photos, cats, or whatever else matters to you! In the meantime, here's what you should know about us. We've been side by side since we were 16 and 17; we're unconventional and we love it; and we invite you to be your wonderfully weird selves with us! Having started in a small town and attending a college with under 1,300 students, we like to get to know people and enjoy time well-spent in coffee shops. We are always up for an adventure, a volunteer opportunity, and all the dessert!
Heather
Theres something so infectious about Heather that after all these years, I still can’t quite figure out! Maybe it’s her ambition to always be better. Maybe it’s her kind heart that always seems to know just how to turn a bad situation into a good one. Or maybe it’s her optimism that transforms the rainiest of days into sunshine. Well, whatever IT is, she’s got IT! She is incredibly passionate and one hundred percent committed to showing just how good she is behind the camera, and if that doesn’t win you over, then her heart of gold will.
Alan
Alan has been described as “giggly, yet manly”, and that phrase couldn’t be more accurate. His laugh, or better described as a giggle, is endearing and contagious and he will most certainly brighten your day if you’re lucky enough to meet him. He truly is the type of person you want in your life. Alan is a sincere, cheese-loving, wonderful human being. He is the type of person that says “sorry” and means it. If you need a favor, a good laugh, or someone to stick their head in your photos, then Alan is your man.
Kiki
Although Kiki is not very productive, he is an important member of the Cloudland Photo team! He provides emotional support and stress relief via cuteness and snuggles. At first glance, our sweet baby may look a bit rough around the edges. He has a crooked tail (it was shut in a door), a foggy eye (an injury from another cat), and a couple hairless patches (old age). But after 19 years of life, what else do you expect?!?! Our little adventurer, like most cats, enjoys laying in the sun, eating lots of grass, and most of all, some quality snuggle time with us. Kiki is hesitant with new things at first, but as long as we are there to support him, he follows us anywhere. Kiki’s travels include 17 states, Canada, a museum or two, countless parks, the St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Chicago, the Pittsburgh Pickle Festival (twice), and the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden. As you can see from the picture above, he is enjoying his retirement in Florida.
